Is there a series body that would fit on a RR or disco frame. I want more room than an 88 or defender, but would like to maintain offroad ability, that is why I don't want a 110 or 109, but would like the room. so is there a 100in or other option. |

Aaron, What you're considering is called a hybrid, and there are lots of them made. You have to relocate or fabricate some body mounts, and you have to do some creative work on a rear-tub... no, there isn't a rear-tub that is just a bolt-on for this. (Well, there were a very few 100-inch Defenderish Rovers made, before it went to 110 or 90, but they were experimental, not actually production vehicles). If you peruse a lot of the Brit mags, you will want to pay attention to whenever you see "hybrid" mentioned.... Good luck, -L

The web site Jeremy provided has some good info. Shortening a 109 or 110 three door rear tub isn't extremely difficult but it is very time consuming. Need to drill out all the rivets holding on the galvanized cappings. The tub sides are spot welded, these all need to be drilled as well as the spots for the two rear end caps. Remove 9 inches from the front of the sides, and however much from the rear until you get "looking" right. Shorten the tub to match the new sides. Shorten the galvd cappings. Now get busy with the rivets. Get a series rear cross member to weld onto the back of the rangie frame. Also get all the Series rover outriggers. Rangy frame rails are 25" apart and 3" wide, same as a series. For the top, either cut down a 109 hard top or softtop. A marine place can help point out a canvas stitcher for a softtop. For the hardtop, pretty much like the tub, drill out welds and rivets, cut, re-rivet. hth Pete |
