I have to replace my gas tank this winter and I was also thinking about placing another tank in my truck and I was thinking about putting it the bed of the truck(IIa 88). Rather than lay it in the bed I wanted to cut out the floor and lay it down underneath the tub just enough so that I don't lose a lot of my storage to this beast. What do you guys think? and does napa sell the fuel line switch overs? |

Don't cut out the floor... A better solution would be to add a fuel-tank outrigger on the opposite side, pull out the tray under that seat, and bolt the second gas-tank in there. Either lift the seat-cushion and fill like on a military, or if you want to go through the trouble, actually install a gas-tank-funnel on the opposite side, too. (Takes fabrication to do it right.) Or, stop at gas stations more often. Hey, it's simpler, and if you happen to be travelling farther, use jerry cans.... -L

You can put a tank in the rear under the tub without cutting anything. Ive got one in my diesel and it works great. I am also able to have both fuel fillers on the same side which is very handy. -Regards -Ike |

I'm with Ike on this. I've seen a CJ-5 tank up underneath the bed, strapped in. The filler neck goes between the frame and bed on the pass. side and comes out under the Land-Rover plaque. You get to drill/cut/fab the opening for the neck. Can get more detail if interested. |

Ike-Who made the tank for you? and do you have any pics of it. Did you use after market(non-Rover) pumps etc. |

Previous Owner of my truck made the tank. Its a 22 galon unit. You can use the stock dual tank switch and the rover fuel pump if you wish. I have an electric valve and the stock cummins fuel pump as my truck has an engine conversion. -Regards -Ike |
