I am trying to install new TI Console Parabolic springs on my Series IIa. There is some kind of retainer clip next to the nuts on the u-bolts that prevents getting the proper sized socket or wrench on these nuts. The instructions from Great Basin Rovers says to just cut the U-bolts off with a torch. I do not have a torch. Any suggestions? or anyone with a cutting torch?

Hey Ted! Good to see on the board: hope all is well in AZ.
Suggestion: get a 5" disc grinder, remove the blade guard, get some thin cutting discs, wear eye and ear protection and cut the nuts off: a bit easier than a cutting torch.
I think you'll like the TI parabolics: mine are great.

Thanks David,
I had the same advice from some other people too. Things are good in AZ, the Series is still a project, but it is repainted on the outside (Marine Blue) and the rear jump seats are redone. I can't wait to get these springs on. Then rebuild the carb, then the exhaust then, then, then... you get the picture. Hello to Micah.

cheers,

I just put on the sst exhaust by NRP: works very well and not too loud. Gas mileage went up noticeably.

I was able to remove the ubolt nuts by using a little penetrating oil (Kano Kroil) and letting it sit over night. The impact socket I used was not quite the correct size but the nuts came off no problem with a pnuematic wrench. Are you talking about the retaining piece for the brake lines?
