I think I read somewhere that the transfer case you can shift it from 2 wheel drive to 4wd by using the yellow knob when it is down it is in 4 and up its in 2wd or vise versa is that true? If so I have been driving in 4wd all the time on the street for no reason which would suck. except for the occasional urban offroading. |

depressing the yellow knob activates 4wd. moving the red lever all the way back and forward deactivates 4wd. but notice if the yellow knoob pops up when doing this. if it dosent than pull it up[ manually. or you wll still be in 4wd. notice the location of the poping spring. and seat. if the seat is not there than the spring will be forced down through the sheet metal. also note that if the truck has free wheeling hubs than, you must engage them once a week to allow the oil to lubricate the rakio bushings in the front swivill housings. |

The Red knob thats just to switch from low to high not 4wd to 2wd. If the yellow knob is up its 2wd and when its down thats 4wd. Does that sound right. |

Brad, When you smack down on the yellow knob, that changes it from 2-wheel drive hi-range to 4-wheel drive hi-range. When you pull back on the red knob, you go into 4-wheel drive low-range. If you were in 4-hi, the yellow knob will pop up as you pull the red knob back. If you're in 2-wheel drive hi-range, and want to go straight to 4-wheel drive low, just pull backon the red knob without bothering with the yellow knob at all. (Three shall be the count, and the count shall be three. Not two, nor four. Five is right out.) You can't be in two-wheel drive low range, unless, you have your lockable hubs unlocked (which I don't recommend doing!) Note: although you can shift from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive hi-range on the fly, in order to get out of 4-wheel drive you'll have to shift down into low-range with the red knob, so you'll have to slow it down. -L |
