Has anyone done this? Specifically I'd like to mount 235/85 BFGs onto ANR4636 5.5 X 16 rims.

thanks
Brian

Have not tried that yet. We did just test fit a 8.25 XZL on a 5.5" rim and it worked fine. That's about a 230/100 equivalent. Looks bad-ass too :-) I would go for it unless anybody says otherwise...

I ran 235/85 BFG MT's on stock 5.5 rims for years and they worked just fine. Other people will tell you it won't work. Just don't air down too much.

I might be able to find a pic :-)

Really rare? That's a frickin' understatement!!

I'm still curious about H2eater's friend of an uncle who knows somebody at Michelin :-)

Brian: my 2a has 235 85 R16's on those gray 16x5.5' steel wheels: same setup that you and Sam looked at awhile ago.
For more pics see Art's series website:

I think the lowest that they have been aired-down is around 12 pounds at Anza Borrego: no problems.

I've got 235/85 -16's Track-Edge on 5.5's. Prolly be better off with 6" or wider rims.
But I drove all summer and fall with 'em. I can live with them for now.

Brian: so, does this mean that the series one is getting finished? Or another truck?

maybe this question calls for a new thread, but since we're on the subject of tires and wheels... does anyone know if the disc brakes can fit on the less-common 15" (x8?) wheels? I've got 31x10.50's on there and they fit perfectly, but don't know if I can manage to cram the disc brake package back there....
