My engine seems to be making a very faint "clicking" noise and running somewhat unstable. I've also noticed a significant loss in power, though reaching 50mph is still possible. I just had my engine cleaned/degreased, and I think moisture might have got into my distributor. Is this possible or should I be looking into the possibility of something else. It seems to be a very minor problem, though I could be wrong. My mechanic is going to be helping me check the brakes and I'd like to address this with him at the same time. Any opinions? |

I've got the same problem too. Expet that sometimes it is a clicking, others its a whirring and sometimes it clanks and bangs around like crazy. I think I share the vehicle with someone else. |

Check the valve adjustment. tick tick tick = valve out of adjustment |

Yeah, check the valves, I just did mine and it quieted things down a bit and takes less than an hour. Also, maybe a stretch here, but check your motor mounts, gearbox mounts. Also, probably unrelated in your case, but my exhaust runs very close to the frame up at the front and when it was loose at the downpipe, I had reduced power, a lot o puff-puffing and it would rattle against the frame every now and then. |

first thing i would do is check for exhaust leaks they can sound like a tick. next i would adjust the valves do to your complaints of noise and lose of power. if your valves are out of adjustment your loosing compression.also while the rover is in the shop do a compression check. if you have one or two way out of wack(normal i think is 145 psi)you could have burnt a valve. good luck! marc http://singingcamel.com also you could have a bent push rod or sticky lifter. run the rover with the valve cover off you can isolate alot of messing around by observing the operation and isolate the sticking lifter as well as a bent push rod marc@singingcamel |
