Hi all, Need some professional (yes, I consider your all *professionals*) opinions on my rear light covers and quarter panel. I've circled them in the picture below so you all know what I'm gabbing about.... Anyway, I am wondering if you all know what year these light covers are akin too. My Series is a 1973, but for some reason I haven't come across any other Series III's with these covers. They show their of the Lucas variety, which also makes me fear that they might be hard to come by in the event that the plastic breaks or cracks. Also, the lower circle hi-lites the area that many Series rovers have that comes back down as an aesthetic piece. I'm looking for some ideas to cover this area coming off my rear cross member back up (a short rock slider?). Anyone have any experience with additions in this area? Thanks, Eric Y.

Eric, Those lights appear to be some other Lucas variant other than the usual Land Rover type. I wish I had thought to look at your pics when you were up today. I'll look again soon. As far as the color we discussed today, you can see it on some other vehicles at: http://members.shaw.ca/roverclub/SPF/clubcars2SPF/Image009.jpg http://www.smink.nl/images/galerij/wessels.jpg http://www.ruediger-wicke.de/camerongreen.jpg http://www.p6club.com/images/newgal/ison_charles.jpg http://www.p6roc.co.uk/db_rover31.jpg http://www.p6roc.co.uk/db_P10100192.jpg http://members.shaw.ca/roverclub/SPF/clubcars2SPF/Image008.jpg A lot like a British Racing, a lot like Conniston but with blue instead of yellow.... genuine Rover, from the right period (early 70's).... FWIW.... -L

Lights are the 4 inch amber lucas lamp and the tall 3 inch red lens, common to morth american series threes, nothing special about them, though they arent easy to get. Your rear quarter has been cut off, the most effective thing is to make a rear bumper that wraps around the corner of the rear cross-member. Like this: <img> http://www.solihullsociety.org/05_photos/2003/0913_upperhelldorado/images/12_800 %20wide.jpg |

Ike, True, the amber ones are the larger ones like my SIII had, but my red ones were the smaller domes like IIa rovers have... I'd not seen the tall squared off cylinder-style before. And yes, his quarter was cut, we had talked about it earlier Saturday.... That's an interesting way to fix that..... -L

Ike, That is one heck of a roll cage on that Rover. I like the integrated rear bumper/cross member on the Series, though. Hmmm... i'll need to do some thinking and see if I can't fabricate somthing for that cross member of mine, now. Leslie, the 'green' looks great. I'll tell you what, though - those Rover saloon's are a holler to look at. Eric Y. |

Dear God ... I just looked at some of the pics from the Solihull Society website -- tell me the rims on that tan Series with the monster rollcage are just hub caps, and were there as a joke ... please. |

Leslie, Theres more than one type of lens fitted to NAS series threes, he has the taller style. Everyone - The truck is actually a D90, but the rear bumper/quarter panel protector is nice. Yes the caps were a joke. -Regards -Ike |
