I'm thinking about using spare steel wheels off D1's for my SII. I have a place that I can get them for a reasonable price and I won't have to pay any shipping. I put the spare off my D1 on my SII today and it seems to have fit well. They are strong wheels and I am planning on painting them to match the hard top of the truck anyway so the gray isn't an issue.
Will this wheel be o.k.?

Thanks Again
Rico

Yes, and no.

Yes in that it fits and works ok, no in that it is really designed for the larger stud and lug nut found on very late SIIa and SIII, but this really does not seem to matter.

Ron,

Doesn't the Disco steel wheel put the tire inboad more than a *series* steel wheel. (I'm thinking 5.5" LWB wheel compared to D1 steel.)

Rico,

I have seen SIII's with the wheels on them. They look great. If you use the shouldered lug nuts I don't think it will be a problem.

Go for it!

Sorry it took so long to get back....I'm in Portland, Oregon. If I can deal with the stock wheels, without tubes, then I will....But if I need tubes, then I'll buy rims.

Make sense ? It also depends on how "good" of a deal the spares are...

I'll talk to the guy and find out how much with shipping. He sells them w/o the tire.
It might take about a month for him to get them. Can you wait that long.
