I'm so jazzed, I had to share with fellow Roverheads...

After a year and a half of wishing, visiting, negotiating, etc., she's finally home.

Cecilia arrived at about 6pm tonight, much to my wife's discontent and to my delight. BTW, she's a RHD 1966 Series IIA.

Here's a pic I took just after arriving.

No offroading is planned until I can do a thorough mechanical assesment. Yes, yes, I know I'm supposed to do that before I buy it! I also need to practice some more double clutch shifting from the wrong side of the car.

Cheers!

Javier

Thanks!

Blue, the pic is definitely deceiving. She needs a lot of work. The exhaust, springs, shocks and tires all need replacement. There will be some rear chassis work to do.

Slowly, she'll be back to more decent shape.

Cool!

Glad you finally found one.

Hollar if you need help/parts.

Oh and one thing. The beauty of a series rover is that it will provide adequate progress despite decades of abuse and neglect. Take her wheeling now!

Ron

Javier: now the real work begins! Just don't forget to enjoy the truck and all it's quirks.
Congratulations, let us know if we can help.

Cool, thanks David & Ron... I know I'll have tons of questions along the way. So David's the man, I should introduce myself.

And yes, I'm going to drive her every chance I can. :)

Another very helpful member of the series community is Ray Wood at Wise Owl in Vancouver, BC. Ray always seems to be able to find the part needed, in good shape and reasonably priced. He also sells parabolics and a new over drive.

Hey Congrats Javier!!! That is one cool looking SIIA. I am still in my quest and can't wait for the day I bring one home and post it here! Good luck with Cecilia!

Thanks, Glenn...

I know the feeling of wanting to find the perfect series, of having that 'bug'. Good luck in your quest!

BTW, email me if you want me to forward some emails from people wanting to sell their Series rigs. I literally contacted dozens of people before settling on Cecilia. Depending on your budget and other requirements (mine were: <$4K, RHD, model year '66), maybe I can help you find one.

Oh, and here are some more pics I took today.

pic one, two and three.

Well, today I finally got to do something meaningful to her. Her exhaust/intake manifold gasket was leaking so I drove to British Pacific last week and today I installed it ($6).

The engine is so much more quiet. I also treated her to new

. engine oil and filter ($25)
. yellow/red knobs ($12)
. missing gear shift lever locating pin ($2)
. sticker "(L-R) first because (L-R) lasts". It looks like the white "Best 4x4xfar" sticker

Now I see why people buy the spin-on oil filter adaptor! :) No offense if you are reading this, PO Jeff R., but that oil looked like it had not been changed in 5 years!

Next up, new oil in ••••••, t-case, diff (both) and swivel balls.

When money allows, new parabolics spings and new shocks. It's painful to not bounce around, these shocks feel frozen solid. But it's fun as hell...

Glenn, you have mail... I listed 3 Series trucks I came across.

Jeff B., Robin Hood pub on Wed?

Sorry Javier. I have flu bug! I have seen the contents of my stomach far too many times in the last 24 hours... :(

We do need to meet over there though. It's a decent pub.

Glad the work is coming along.

I'll show you the alternator conversion next time we hook up. It went very smoothly.

Feel better, Jeff. As I thought about today's date, I realized that out of respect for the victims, I'm going to make it another date.

I'm interested to hear about the conversion.

Javier
