If anyone cares to know...my project SIII (mentioned in my previous post about painting...)is coming along fairly nicely...this afternoon, got the remaining body panels off. Now the junk frame and axles, transmission go back to the junkyard from whence they came...trust me-they're shot! I'm pretty sure this thing was in the flood...you know, THE flood. I guess rovers weren't taken two by two onto the ark with the other beasts? Anyway its been full of silt and sand and other random sh#t, so I'm certain it was either buried or flooded, or both. Anyway, a donor rig comes next...maybe someday it'll be back on the road!? More details later,(I know this is a pointless post, but it's late and I'm waiting for SNL to start.

STOP!

Put the axles/tranny on RN BBS and lrx. Free if you have to. Someone will save them.

Phillip,
He was referring to Noah's flood....

'Spoon,
I'll second Ron..... Even if they seem like garbage, the tranny and axles probably can help someone out... frame, yeah, if it's toast go ahead and scap it, but the axles and tranny may be able to provide someone w/ some bits towards a rebuild (Series folk are the biggest 'recyclers')....

:)

Spoon,

The 6 bolts that secure the hub flange of each axle are of the Whitworth species, not SAE not Metric. Not that easy to find at the local grocer. Save them if you can. (I'm missing 1).

Good luck with your project.

Jude.

Gee,
I never knew anyone cared :-) No, the reason they are going back, is that we really bought the body from the frame up...This guy who sold it to us wanted the axles and "running gears" back...believe me..they aren't "running" gears. The motor is gone, but the transmission has about an inch and a half of silt in it...same with all available nooks and crannies. I guess one could take everything apart and spend who-knows how long cleaning it, but man...you don't know how much crap is all up in this thing! The brake drums had to be busted to pieces just to get teh axles to move at all, after that it still can't be move except with a stout truck. Sorry about the axles fellas,...next ones I get and don't need, I promise I'll donate them to a good cause. The gentleman who sold the body wants all those good components back, so they can sit in obscurity in BFE for another 30 years. Oh well, these are the trials we face...
