I've admired this on his web site, and noticed this morning that it is on eBay with a "Buy it Now" price of just $5k. Just a heads up if anyone is looking, I have no affiliation. If I wasn't having a baby in 9 weeks, I'd be all over it. Description from the Turky's web site... "Here is the New Zealand Dark Green 1976 88 inch you have been waiting for. This is a great running & driving RHD truck that was being used everyday until I bought it from the 3rd owner. There is nothing outstanding about this LR other than the fact it is not rusty due to the NZ climate it was raised in since new. The 4 cylinder petrol engine runs perfect. Transmission & transfer case are both good. Runs road speed with no problem. Wide spoke wheels & larger tires were added in the past year. Fitted with a tailgate to allow top removal. South Carolina title. For sale at $7950." Pictures --> http://www.turkys.com/76NZLR.html The eBay listing--> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1866255926 |

The guy has the starting bid at the same price as the buy-it-now price.... I don't like that. I think he should at least start with a lower bid-price, and if he has to, set the reserve as the same price as the buy-it-now price, IMHO.... It looks okay, but I'd want to really see the frame, and test-drive it a lot to shake it down, especially for that much money... IMHO, FWIW.... -L |

Hi- I remember a guy on the RN BBS posted that he lived near "Turky's" and would do a check on anything he was selling, seemed like a nice offer. I also was watching that truck but was not too keen on the RHD after owning own. It's funny I have driven a RHD LR 90 and it was a whole different experience than my Series as far as adjusting to the RHD, much easier. |

Leslie, "that much money" ?? Where I live, they get $5k for rusted Series hulks. If this truck is rust free and a solid runner (as advertised) then $5k is a bargin up here. :-) Check out this one..... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1867045178 And that is a mucho-bargin for up here. |

Dave, I agree that that is a sharp truck, but non-original paint as such, its price is at the upper of the end of the scale. These are work trucks. $5k should get you something nice. By no means perfect, but acceptable. $10k should get you something really sharp. Over $10k, you're paying extra for it to be "just right", whereas you could probably find a cheaper one and dress it up to the same thing for less... under 5k, and you'll have lots of projects to straighten out niggling things. A lot of people seem to think that these are made out of unobtainium.... outside the US, they're common, and it's easy enough to get older ones in.... I wouldn't spend $5k on a Series that was rusty, not unless everything else on it was perfect, and it was just a frame-swap... But, if it's rust free, it's worth 5k if it runs reasonably well... I've seen Series that were NICELY restored, that sold for ~$25k.... and, with the work that was done, it was worth it.... it wasn't just a restoration, it was a NEW vehicle by the time it was done. But, just because a Series is nice-looking, in good shape, and runs well, doesn't mean that it has to fetch over $10k... IMHO, FWIW, YMMV.... -L |
