Our Snap-on guy just dropped off the new Snap-on catalog, catalog no. 700: http://snap-on.com/Images/700_catalog.jpg Most of the stuff is unchanged, but there are some cool new things in there. For example, the IM6500 1/2" drive impact wrench has replaced the IM6100. The IM6500 features an eight-vane motor rather than six, and the muffler bypass selector is detented so that it won't vibrate loose. The FAR7200 3/8" air ratchet has replaced the FAR72. The FAR7200 features a very slim black rubber handle, which I prefer to the aluminum handle on the FAR72 or the black plastic handle our FAR750. But the biggest new thing in the catalog, at least for me, is the announcement of Snap-on's new Flank Drive Plus ratcheting combination wrenches. These are actual "Snap-on" items and not the Blue-Point wrenches that proved to be pieces of shit. The Snap-on wrenches differ from the Blue-Point wrenches in several ways. The Snap-on wrenches are full length and not shortened. The engravings are stamped into the wrench instead of laser engraved onto the chrome. The open end features Snap-on's Flank Drive Plus profile. And the box end on the Snap-on wrenches appears to be slimmer than the box end on the Blue-Points. The ratcheting box ends will be serviceable, and Snap-on will ofer reverse lever service kits for these wrenches. The catalog says some wrenches will have up to 80 teeth for use in tight spots. Time will tell how well these wrenches stand up to hard use, but I'm definitely getting a set for our use in the shop.
