I have the Cobra C75-WXST with the firestick antenna mounted on the spare tire carrier. SWR is off the charts on all channels so I thought the cable might be at fault. I swapped the cable out with a new cable and SWR is still way over 3. Any ideas? Could the radio be shot? |

The transmitter in the radio could be shot. How about swapping for a new antenna as well? Is the antenna properly grounded? I would double check to see if the antenna is properly grounded. It will be helpful if you could post the model antenna you are using, along with the type of mount and type of coaxial cable you are using. |

John and Craig, I had the same problem during my initial installation of my Cobra. #1 I had a dead short in the cable. Replaced with a different cable; then I had to mess with the antenna. #2 My original antenna was a 2 foot firestik and I could not get it to adjust to a 1:1. I replaced it with a K40 4 footer and all is well. John, there is a plastic washer that if placed on the wrong side of the mounting flange will completely hose you for obtaining optimum SWR. |
