Does Snap-On make garden tools? I'm sick of weak shit - this weekend I snapped the handle on a pruner and bent a rake, shovel, hedge clippers, and a hand-held pruner into modern art. This was some expensive shit that I thought was quality stuff....none of this Martha Stewart jailbird Kmart shit... |

Blue, I think you need to work on your technique If you are blowing through a set of garden tools every outing.

I'm taming mature shrubbery that the previous owner didn't maintain. I also live on a big hunk of precambrian granite. The way I see it is that if I have the muscle, shouldn't the tool? If I roach craftsman garden stuff, will they exchange? Of course, if it isn't up to the task in the first place, why do I want another inferior replacement? Anyone have any recommendations for brands of garden tools? What does Lowes carry? Haven't shopped them yet. |

I know some of their garden tools have the lifetime warranty. I've busted a couple of the fiberglass handle shovels prying out roots, and they replace with no questions. I don't think they're inferior, I just abused them. SC |

Blue, use a saw instead of a pruner. Get youself a spade from Smith & Hawken. The ones made in England. They are about $70. I've owned a spade and spading fork for about 20 years and they are still going strong. And they get plenty of abuse. The spade is good because the blade is flat enough to easily cut through roots and dig out shrubs and trees, yet there is enough slant to the handle that you can use it easily to load a wheelbarrow with topsoil. The spading fork is strong and holds up well when turning over new soil for a garden. I have the steel ones with wooden D handles. They are well made tools in a traditional style. I think the new ones are also offered ith stainless steel blades. |

Paul, Kidding about Blues last comment or this thread about snap-on garden tools??? Blue your last one cracked me up, LOL. The pruning saws rock and are very handy in the back of the rover as well. Forget the little pruners on stuff over about 1/2" even. The saw will rip through a 4" tree in a matter of seconds. Even the quality garden stuff will break if abused. S&H included and I do not think that they are all that great. The spade and fork are only about $30 now. |

Shit, I was only half-serious. Why couldn't I find that? I did a search and came up empty. Thanks John. I'm all over that pruning saw, hand pruner, and the hedge shears. Maybe that demo ax too, just 'cause it's cool. I just bought a new pruning saw, hand pruner, and hedge shears at the local hardware store but screw it....gotta have Snap-on.... |

John, have you memorized every item in the SnapOn line? I would have never thought of them for garden tools, but obviously you're up on everything SnapOn. Do you have a SnapOn razor and toothbrush? |
