local dealer has a "AA Yellow" although now called something else in stock. very cool LR! The back has a removable "hardtop" and there is a soft top that also can be fitted for the rainy days.

The seats are like the bottom of driving mocs only smaller nips and of course softer. they are water resistant.

H-K sound system with CD builtin std. as is a "brush" guard and a aluminum skid plate both of which are cosmetic.

Sorta like a soft top D90 concept with a removable hardtop and water resistant seats.

Much more fun than the 4 door version.

Plan a test drive this Saturday.

Jamie, they had this exact set up in the showroom at LR Fort Worth. The seats appear to be the same Duragrain material they use in the base Disco.

yeah - thats what it was called. nice stuff especially for an open LR where the sun could really ruin a leather interior.

We just got one of them a week and a half ago. Lisa has been trucking all over in it in the bad weather and she is loving it. I really like it too once I get in it.

Chris,

Also see you bought the yellow version.

So your dealer had the soft top already available. Is this going to be easy to install?? Constructed well??

THX,

Jaime

Actually, here in the US, the soft top is a additional Kit option and we are still waiting for ours to come in. If you are wondering, yes you have to remove the rear bars to get the top off. In fact, if you dont plan putting a little roof rack up there, you can just run without them.

Excellent news on the roof bars and yes, that was my next question! lol.

Was there any negotiation room on the price??

Not really, we went in with X-Plan pricing to start with so we could not try to beat them up more.

Chris,

We got our SE3 roof off without removing the bars. You just have to be extra careful, there is maybe 1/2" of clearance if you lift it up and slide it sideways thru the bars. It took us 4 people to do it, but the bars never came off. fwiw..

We had myself and my buddy trying to do it with another salesguy and my wife supervising. I guess we could have done it but it was misty raining and didnt want to break something on our 2nd day of owning it. LOL

After our failed attempt at trying the "quicker" way, we looked in the owners manual and found they recommend removing the luggage bars. We will just wait until our soft top comes in.

I saw a yellow one 3 door at my dealer recently. I too like it better than the 5 door. I don't remember if it was leather or not... It appeared to have more exposed metal inside than the four door version.

Ouch $1800 for a soft top! That's like 7% of the total sticker!

According to a Ford/Land Rover press release, the soft top is listed at $850.

US$1800 for the softop?
When the 3 door Freelander was released in Australia in 1998 it came with soft top only. If you wanted the hard top it was a US$3300.00 option. In those days there were no roof bars standard. They were an option as well.

I have a Monte Carlo Blue SE3 that is about 4 weeks old. I love it. I also have the soft top. It's a very nice option once you know how to work it! A little tough to put on the first time.

This car is much more fun than the Disco and you can whip it around corners better.

"and you can whip it around corners better."

There's something I never thought I'd here a Land Rover owner say.

Love the little SE3 dam its almost cute

BTW, to protect the hard top while removing it, put those split foam pipe insulators on the rails
