Couple of unrelated questions for all you Freelander owners:

1. What has the dealer said about the propensity of the fuse for the drivers side window to blow?

2. For those with the Harmon Kardon stereo, anyone replaced the stock head unit? Anything tricky about this?

Thanks, Steve

Steve, the driver's side window fuse needs to be replaced with a higher amp fuse. If you keep replacing it with the same amp, it will keep blowing.

I have not had any problems with my drivers side window yet...

Pardon my nievity, but why would you want to replace a Harmon Kardon head unit with something else? You've already got a radio that is better than anything Bose, Nakamichi, or Mark Levinson can fart-out, and some cheap little Sony or other make head unit with pretty lights will never give you the sound quality you have. It boggles the mind...

Actually- the head unit is made by Visteon, not HarmonKardon. The H/K upgrade is only the amp and speakers (and that cool dual voice coil sub in the floor). The head unit is exactly the same P.O.S. that's in the base model, and is easily ripped out and replaced by something decent. The H/K amp is a small 40 watt per channel 6 channel amp with speaker level inputs. This means you can use any head unit you wish- in my case I used an Alpine and the sound quality is much better. The highs are brighter and the bass is punchier and easier to control. The Alpine BBE feature makes the whole stereo sound much warmer and image better. The plug I used to convert the wiring without cutting was actually from a VW Passat- a couple wires have to be re-arranged in the plug, but it made for a cut-free installation.
