The muffler on the Freelander is unusually fat, so much so that it hangs low enough to present a clearance issue on departure, some of us refer to it as the "full diaper" look. Many owners that I know have swapped it out for an inline lower profile muffler such as the magnaflo universal to gain clearance and a much cleaner look from behind (sounds sweeter too!):

Can anyone tell me why LandRover puts that big @ss diaper on the Hippo?

Good question but I took mine off the weekend after I got the FL. Glad I did since it helped with some clearance issues.
Did you ever decide on those light pods?

No, I haven't made up my mind yet, but I am leaning towards the valence lights. Will probably wait until I decide if I'm going to go with a hard or soft A-frame / bumper config or none at all.

If I go w/ the soft then I'll definately go w/ the pod lights - they look good together.

If I go w/ a hard A-Frame (like the DAP) I'll just add fogs onto it.

If I don't put anything on the nose, then I'll likely go with the valance lights or a small rectangular PIAA fog mounted in the lower grill.
