WHEN: Saturday, January 17, 2004

Putting together a meet and greet / road ralley for ALL Freelander Owners in and around the Washington, D.C. area. If you can make it, please come out and introduce yourself. The trip is planned so that if you have children, they can enjoy most of it too. Event is meant to bring together area Freelander owners, but everyone is welcome!

1:30 PM meet at Annapolis City Dock public parking lot near "ego alley" and the sail boats, go all the way in the back near the Bay, near Phillips Restaurant and behind the Visitors Center. Grab some coffee, a gelato, some pastry, sandwhich, salad or whatever at Aromi d' Italia located right in the parking lot. Address: 8 Dock Street, Annapolis, MD 21401.

2:30 PM We leave the parking lot caravaning in and around Annapolis, making our way to route 50 west into downtown Washington, D.C. We do a loop around the Mall passing by the U.S. Capitol, Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. Maybe even a trip around the the tidepool past the Jefferson Monument and FDR Memorial. Will have marked up maps ready at the Annapolis parking lot.

4:00 PM We meet up at an Alexandria or DC pub (still to be decided, so open for suggestions) for a pint. The Smithsonian's don't close until 6PM if you'd rather take advantage of being in DC and run the little one's into a museum or two before they close.

UPDATE
FREELANDER WASHINGTON DC ROAD RALLEY

Saturday January 17, 2004

Route Begins in Annapolis, Maryland
City Dock Parking Lot:

1:30 PM - 2:30 PM Meet up at Annapolis City Dock public parking. Go to the rear of the parking area near Phillips Seafood Restaurant and along the actual dock area ("ego alley"). We can gather up the cars, meet and greet, get some coffe, ice cream or whatever before heading out. Will also pass out route maps, discuss the days agenda, stopping places, etc. and get Steve's home info. for the "mixer" at his house later that day.

2:30 PM We leave City Dock area and proceed enroute to and around Washington DC. I am speaking w/ the Annapolis Dealer, we may take the route via their location, or they may bring an 04 Freelander and Discovery over to meet us at City Dock. If they do, we'll proceed directly into DC and by pass the Dealership.

2:30 PM - 4:00 PM I've mapped out a route in and around the DC area which will take us close by nearly every major monument including the Capitol, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Smithsonian Museums, Supreme Court, Library of Congress and Arlington national Cemetary. I have ear-marked stopping places along the way which include the southern tip of Haines Point in East Potomac Park to re-group if we get spread out because of signals, mis-turns or traffic (traffic is expected to be moderate and not a significant problem).

4:00 PM - 4:30 PM After completing the rest of the route, we will re-group just across the Potomac River at the Marine Corps Memorial (Iwo Jima statue) in Arlington, Virginia to "debrief" say our "good-byes" and/or prepare for the trip to Steve's home for the mixer. Anyone who missed out on the earlier Annapolis meet can catch up with us at the Memorial to get info. to Steve's home.
