Ok I made the jump and traded in my '97 Disco for a '02 Freelander SE. Does anyone know what the largest tire I can fit on the 17 inch wheels I have? I love the Freelander so far except for three things... Ground clearance, My windsheild is apparently cracked and the driver side door speaker is blown! Well at least it has not started self lubricating itself yet! Anyone have many problems? Also anyone from the Dallas area let me know.

Don't know if this is kosher here, but check out www.freelanderliving.com and www.freelanderowners.com. There are two very informative and active sights regarding the freelander. Freelander Living has more technical reviews and articles, where as Freelander Owners has a very active and large forum to chat with other Feelander owners worldwide.
As for the clearance issue, install the 2" lift. It looks great. There are pics in the tech section of the lift.

This guy put bigger tires on 16" "S" wheels on his "SE" model, and replaced the muffler with smaller glass pack muffler to increase clearance.
He claims the tires give him about 1.5" more clearance, with no other mod. |

Thats one of the better looking Free's I have seen, exception being David Gage's.
I like that guy's oringinality though, not afraid to do what he wants (i.e. glasspack) |
