Has anyone tried to mount one on the spare tire holder? I had this setup on my Disco and I am thinking of trying it this weekend.
Thanks
DonC

Well I was able to mount the antenna with no problems. I just followed the instructions for the Discovery install. No problems with the rear wiper as long as you place the mount on the far side of the tire carrier.

Hi

I've bought a CB-radio too. I'm thinking of attaching the antenna on the roofrack (on the right of the spare tire / 3dr Freelander) What do you think about that?

Where did you place the cb-radio in the car? The Freebie is quite narrow inside - I'm not sure where to put the radio...

Regards

For the SE3 I dont see why that would not work for the antenna.
I ran the wire up and under the carpet to the center console. I drilled a hole in the rear ash tray and passed the cb cable through there and attached a new end. When I am not using the cb I just close up the ashtray. no wires visable inside the car. Let me know if you need pics of the install.

Donc,
Can you specify which antenna mount you used on your spare carrier? Was it one of the standard Fire Stick models?

I used the Disco install instruction to come up with the idea on the Fl. I had to use a Bargin (available at any truck stop) 2 bolt mount. This was a bit skinnier then the others that were avaiable. Be careful on the external mount for it might interfer with rear wiper if not placed correctly. Run the wire through the rear grommet with the washer hose and wire tie it to the wire harness running through the rear door to keep things out of the way. Worked out great and no wires visible from the install.
I have a pdf of the install instructiions if you are interested.

Don,
I like your interior solution. I'm getting the same Cobra model.
About the carrier, I take it the antenna mount is on the opposite side of the carrier as the washer arm, ie on the outside and the antenna runs between the carrier and the spare, not between the carrier and the truck.
Thanks for the information

Bill actually it does run between the carrier and the wiper arm. I forgot to add that on the L bracket where the antenna would mount, I cut it off right at that point and redrilled the hole for the antenna to pass though. This will allow for enough space as not to interfere with the wiper arm.
That is actually a Midland 722 model. I liked that one better then the Cobra one.
