My lcd went on radio in my Classic. I'm using this as an excuse to get a new system. the local sound shop said the car news to be rewired. i got the impression that this was BS and they just didnt want to deal w/ it correctly b/c rewiring requires less thinking. Is there any adapter so i can use a conventional deck. Crutchfield was of little help. i heard of a company called PIE but i cant get a hold of any on there. Any ideas |

Rovers are wierd. There are some people that have supposedly modified a VW adapter to work for Discos, but, I've not done it myself. Nothing is available in a plug-n-play adapter for Rover AFAIK. It may actually be easier to rewire.... I don't know: do you have remote radio controls in a Classic? They may not work w/ a new system, unless the shop is good enough to wire it in well. Sorry I don't know more about RRCs to help ya more... FWIW.... -L

My definition of "rewire" is to cut the stock harness, identify each wire, and butt splice/solder to corresponding wire on the new radio's harness. Do keep in mind that some CD player don't handle the angle of the radio in a RRC console. Amazingly enough, the Owner's manual has a nice schematic of the audio system. You may or may not have an amplifier under your cubby box. Good luck. |
