I have noticed that my brake fluid resevoir has been going low. It takes some time for this to occur, but the other night I was going to the NFR and was rearended on the highway. There is absolutely no damage to my Rover, but I did notice the next morning a wet stream coming from my right rear wheel. I looked and the entire lower half of the wheel is covered in what appears to be brake fluid. I am assuming (since I havent been under to look yet) that one of the brake lines is broken or leaking severely. My question is are brake lines hard to replace? (can I do it myself?) I also saw from Atlantic British they offer brake pipes. Should I replace all brake lines and pipes or will replacing only the lines suffice. And about how long does it take to do? Any help would be great. |

You probably had a corroded hardline that teh accident finished off completely. In the rear - you will have to replace the hardline that goes from the distribution "T" mounted above the diff to the caliper. Not sure what year, but it is most likely time for new flexible lines also (4 - 2 front, 2 rear) Be careful in the meantime - also you will need to do a flush and fill of the fluid and then bleed it - if this is an ABS RRC, that gets involved (13 bleed ports) Bill |

Depending on mileage, your caliper pistons might have leaky seals too. If that's the case, replace them with reconditioned calipers from a reputable source. Glad to hear you and your RR are both ok. |

I just pulled the brakes apart and found that the caliper piston seal was pretty much gone. It was simply popped out of the caliper and was just hanging there. No wonder the fluid was leaking. I am planning on ordering a caliper seal kit from atlantic british tomorrow. Thanks for the help. |
