Might be a stupid question, but since I'm not used to snow after having lived in a country that hardly ever sees snow I'm in the dark on this one. Got a RRC and the official manual says that you only should put chains on the rear tires and not on the front as it could damage the brake system. Is this fully correct ?

Land Rover says that in the US becuase they are afraid of lawsuits. Elsewhere in the world they recognize that chains on four wheels work better than chains on rear wheels. That being said, you should look at the location of brake pipes and ABS leads. Make sure when you fit front chains that they can't foul and rip these pieces. Make sure there are no segments of chain and no hook ends flying around on the inside when the chains are rigged. |
