Through all my research, I was expecting around 13mpg on average from my '88 RRC (3.5 EFI). Turns out, I'm getting around 15 mpg and over 17 on long highway trips. Engine is stock with a big NRP exhaust, I run 205/R16 Coopers right now. Am I crazy or is that better then expected?

That is what I got with my '89 and sometimes with my '93 LWB. Now with the 235/85 tires on the LWB I am getting around 13 city and 15 highway, but I am wondering if that is more due to speedo error than lower mileage. According to my GPS, the speedo is around 3.5 mph slow. |

David, How do you like the NRP exhaust. I have an 88RRC with 265/75. My odometer is not accurate due to larger tires and gear change. I estimate about 12-13 mpg over several years. |

David- My '92 RRC gets 17 mpg on the highway if I am real easy on the gas. I would guess my overall around town driving turns in about 13-14 mpg. The engine is still the 3.9 and the exhaust is stock. Tim H. VT

The NRP is sweet, has a very throaty rumble It was put on my the PO. I've just purchased some 245/75-16's for summer use and I imagine those will hurt MPG a bit. So I guess my MPG isn't abnormal, but it certainly is better then I was prepared for. Cool. |

I get 15 in mixed driving. '93 3.9 L SWB. Used to get 13. I used Lucas fuel injector cleaner for 3 tanks. Don't know if it cleaned out the fuel system or unstuck a valve. |

I get about the same as you in my '87. I got a high of about 19 highway right after new plugs, wires, air filter, etc. That's with stock exhaust and tires. |
