Since it's been extremely (-10 to +20 average) cold my '92 RR passenger door has been real hard to open. Now it will not work at all from the outside. Any suggestions? Is there any possible connection between the cold and possibly a plastic piece that might have broken inside the door? It's a little tough to open from the inside but it does still work from there. |

If your handle functions like the one in my '95, there is a plastic piece that advances against a piece of metal that actuates the mechanism to open the door. There is a description of how to make adjustments with pics on this site. In my truck the plastic shaft would advance but could not push far enough to kick the door open. If I pushed with a screw driver it worked. I reached in with a long set of channel locks and bent the metal piece closer. I then sprayed everything liberally with light oil. It now opens easier than all of the other doors. If that plastic piece broke off, I am guessing you have a much bigger job. Good Luck |

You may have broken something, but more likely the rod between the handle and latch needs to be bent a little shorter. It lengthens over time, the symptom being that you have to pull the handle father and farther to get latch release. Finally you run our of pull. Adjust and oil fixes this most of the time. The rest of the time you need a latch or handle parts. |

Yes thinking back now I have had to pull it farther and farther over time. Hopefully it will be only an adjustment. Thanks! |

Eric, Couldn't locate the pictures for the door handle location. Any idea where to look? Thanks in advance. |

I thought it was in the tech section. I searched around and don't know where I saw it. Sorry. |
