Our '92 RR's water pump has been making a clanking noise during this extreme cold weather. It sounds like a bad bearing. Is this common? What should I do? Thanks, Tim |

Tim I also have a 92RR. And i am seriously considering getting an MGB for my "economy car"; then putting a Rover V8 in it to make it my "race car". This is what I would do about the water pump: If you have high mileage on it you should just go ahead and buy a new one. You can get some more mileage out of it by removing the fan, the belts and the pully(the pully just operates the fan and the AC compressor). You can test to see how bad the bearings are by grabbing the pully or the fan and twisting it around some(which will probably make the bearings even loser than they are now). Randall |

That pulley is actually two pullyes bolted together. The pulley closest to the engine is what turns the water pump, and don't remove it if you're running the engine. |
