Has anyone experienced this dilemma? My passenger front door has failed to respond to the door handles since last Saturday. The lock button seems to actuate properly but I fear the super lock has stuck in the locked position. The options are seeming a bit bleek. |

Hmmm, kinda hard to get the panel off with the door closed. You didn't 'suzuki' it again at TH did you? Sounds like something came undone inside the door. Might have to take the seat out to fix that. SC |

Any way of using a "slimjim" to unlock or unlatch it via window seal? I admit I'm not familiar with the P38 inner door mechanism. If you took off driver door panel I would think you could see how to access door lock or latch lever with the slimjim. Maybe a circlip has failed/fallen off the rods that attach to door handles? Good luck- |

if it truly is stuck "superlocked" there is a large deadbolt stuck between the door and the pillar. thats going to be a tough one. |

Land Rover is aware of this problem. It happens more in cold weather. They have a service bulletin telling how to cut a superlocked latch with minimal damage. You will of course need a new latch when you are done. I suggest you not superlock your vehicle.

Thanks, JE Robison Service Co. A grand chap by the name of David tiffed me the service bulletin just a few hours ago. Thanks David if you catch this thread again. You can get at the latch by lowering the window glass and wedging the inner panel over and using 300mm long flat blade screw drivers to do the deeds needed. I sent the *.tif's to John at www.rangerovers.net for incorporation into his most excellent web page. AP |
