I got new Pirelli tires for my RR 2000 HSE to replace the original Michelins. I started noticing that I started drifting left and right--especially when on an uneven highway. Well, I took it to the dealership and they looked and looked at the suspension. They came back and told me that there was nothing wrong with the alignment or the suspension. They told me that they had seen this problem before with Pirelli's. So, I'm getting a refund from Discount Tire and buying Michelin Synchrone's. Anyone have this experience? Please let me know. |

I haven't had that experience, but when I was buying tires for our 97 HSE my mechanic said to stay away from Pirelli Scorpions. They were the STs though...I don't think they make them anymore. Anyway, I was told that the dealerships had great difficulty in balancing them. We went with the Synchrone's too and we really like them. They're pricey though. |

I just got my new Michelin Synchrones and boy do I feel the difference. With the Scorpions, I had to make minor adjustments all the time as I was driving at highway speeds. It got much worse if driving on un-even roads (as is where I live in Mexico). I am so glad I made the change to Michelin, they drive staight as an arrow and seem to just go over bumps--no pulling left or right like the Scorpions. What I have experienced is common according to the guy at the Rover dealership in San Antonio, Tx. He said they had trouble with Pirellis, but most people don't notice because the roads are in pretty good shape in the US. I only notice it because I live in Mexico where the roads can be pretty uneven. |
