Currently looking to replace the exhaust (past the cats) on a 1989 RRC. The NRP are nice but cannot afford the whole system (that is how they are sold for the 89). How are Flowmaster? Also I have been told that you cannot run dual pipes all the back (they must be reduced to 1 pipe at some point). Is this because of needed back pressure?

Thanks for your input.

Michael,

Check out borla they have a stainless steel exhaust, from the cats back, for 1990-95 RRC for $799.99. Im sure somebody will correct me if im wrong, but there shouldn't be a difference between 89 and 90.

I also thought that you couldn't run dual exhaust all the way back because of the offset differentials.

This concludes my current statement

'89 and '90 exhausts are different.
The genuine one is cheap.

Yes, 89 and 90 are different.

With my 89 I went for a 2 1/4" (stock diam) mild steel replacement put on by a local shop with a Magnaflow muffler and a Blue Streak rear resonator and 2 new aftermarket cats. Fits great and no louder than stock but nice deeper tone. I had shop use stock type exhaust mounts and locations.

Cost=under $500 for complete exhaust including cats.

Ask around and find a shop that does quality work. Check out some of their work.

Instruct the shop to give plenty of clearance for rear upper suspension link as it will hit your new exhaust under articulation if placed too close. This is especially true for lifted suspension or if you have modified rear trailing arms (RTE etc.)

My 2 cents-
Good luck-

dude,
check out dap-inc.com
they had a tailpipe made by walker muffler and shipped it was like 100 bucks or something
don't forget an exhaust olive that goes between the y-pipe and the exhaust.

I run aftermarket cats and a DYnomax muffler. I removed the rear muffler also and replaced with straight pipe. Sounds great and was very cheap. Catco cats from Summit Racing work great but i dont remember the size? I can probably find it if your interested email me at gturner@omegais.com. The whole deal was way less than 500$. Gordo
