I'm upgrading D1 brakes to DBA vented rotors. Rather than use caliper spacers, I am replacing with RR Classic Calipers. Looks like I have two choices. There are two RRC versions for ABS. 90-93 and 94-on.....does anyone know the difference ? Piston size ? Will either drop in place? |

You probably want to look at the 94+ version from the RR Cassic. My '93 ABS version used 2 brake lines per caliper where as your disco has only one line going to the caliper. My service manual for the '93 shows 2 brake lines to the front calipers in both the ABS and non-ABS versions. Maybe the 94+ versions use just one line?!?!? |

All RRC caliper have two brake lines - you must either drill a passage between each piston cylinder (both sides of caliper) and then plug one of the ports. This is the neatest way, but you've got to make some nice neat holes that will line up and form kind of a "V" notch at the base of the cylinders. -or- make a short jumper line between unused line port and one of the bleeder ports (there are three on RRC calipers). This works - but is ugly. IMO it's easier to put the spacer in the Disco calipers. Bill |

Great Basin has the kits now to space the Disco calipers to fit the RR rotors. I haven't installed mine yet, but the kit does appear of good quality and should be easy to fit. The differences in the calipers is probably the diameter of the mounting flange holes. I think the early ones are larger, but one could always drill out the later calpier mounting holes to fit. |
