I ordered my heating elements for the back and butt, and the order was cancelled because they superceded the part. They now say you have to order a different style heating element, AND new foam pads for both parts of the seat. Has anyone done this fix and seen first hand if the foam pad would be necessary? I can't imagine it would be too hard to retrofit the new sytle element into the old seat/pad. The pads TRIPLE the price of the fix. |

eek! that sucks as the elements go out pretty frequently. interesting that on the '95 you also have a back warmer as on the '93 LWB it was only the butt warmer. although I haven't personally done it Alyssa, given the amount of heat actually generated by the unit, agree with you that the new element should be able to fit the old pad with maybe some persuassion. I'd be curious to hear how it goes as I wouldn't mind the back element for my '94 if it doesn't already have it. Jaime

Is there no way to fix this wiring to have the elements break individually rather than in series, btw? |

Man, where were you guys yesterday? I sadly watched as my post slipped down to the bottom, then off the "Last Day" entirely, secretly wanting to "bump" but not wanting to anger the Discoweb gods. ANYWAY, I bet you could jerry-rig it to isolate the pads instead of having them in series, but I wouldn't know how. I'll be wimping out on this, as I don't have the tools, the time, or the know-how to take the seat apart on my own. I'm paying a tech to do it for me. Maybe if I sneak up on him and try to watch some of it I'll be able to give another answer.

Cheaper to buy sheep skin covers? Maybe too tacky. |

Update: I now have no idea why they superceded the part to include new cushions. I just ordered the element with the attitude that my tech could make it fit, and he said he didn't even notice that it was different. He had no problem installing it without new cushions. SO, if you're going to get new elemets for your LWB, don't spring for the new cushion too! |
