For the past few weeks I've been experiencing a problem with an irratic idle on my 87 RR. Its what I'd call a "hunting idle" condition where under normal idle conditions the engine just can't make up its mind and settle on an idle. I'm not too sure if its the 1) sensor mass airflow (SMA) unit, 2) fuel temp sensor, 3)stepper motor or something else. I was contemplating swapping the SMA unit out of my 97 Disco to see if it fixed the problem. Not too sure if I'm going down the right road on my diagnostics. Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks, Fergy |

Rob, Thanks for your reply. I ordered a stepper motor yesterday and I'll put it in this weekend and let you know the outcome. Thanks again, Fergy |

Rob, Your advise worked. I replaced the stepper motor and it idles fine. Thanks again, Fergy |
