The fittings on my fuel filter connections are buggered. I noticed that AB has a kit with new fittings, hose and hose clamps to replace the entire original flexible hose bits. Does anyone know 1) if these kits are more commonly available (since the filter is standard '90s GM) or if there is a commonly available filter that uses hose clamps instead of the threaded fittings? Thanks in advance for any info |

I just had the exact same thing happen to my 93 RRC. After a few hours of screaming and yelling upon finding the cots of the replacement kit, I came up with a simple solution. Since only my inlet end was messed up, I kept the original outlet setup, but the solution works for both ends if both your threads are messed up. I went to auto zone and found a filter that was similar to the stock RRC filter, only it had a barbed male fitting on the inlet side. I also got a foot or so of new 5/16" fuel hose and some crimp on hose clamps. When I got home I cut the old crimped fitting off lengthwise with a hacksaw until it split, I then took it and the entire old hose off the end of the steel line. I then slipped the new hose over it and crimped it in place, then stuck the male end of the filter into that and kept the original outlet setup, I'm pretty sure you can get a filter with 2 male barbs if both your fittings are messed up. Total cost was under $10 vs. $49 from AB or DAP. |

Colin: Thanks. Your suggestion looks like the option I was looking for. |

Bill, Glad to help. I'm not sure why my threads were only messed up on one side, probably because the last mechanic cross threaded the fittings and then rounded off the connector on the hose when he installed them. Anyway, I think I found increased accelerating power by having a new filter, and it cured my stalling problems. Turns out the old filter had disintegrated and was sucking paper bits into the fuel lines. Good luck.
