Finally found the reason my '89 RRC would not run - the @#$@% distributor. I have given up on the Lucas product and switching to a Mallory distributor. Everything looks straight forward for installation. However I need to know if an '89 RRC has an ignition ballast resistor or equivalent between the ignition switch and the coil (+). This is required for the Mallory unit.

Thanks for the help.

I think that the ign coil is internally ballasted. I'm assuming you're getting the Mallory coil as well?

The Mallory coil that I purchased does have an internal ballast resistor. However the installation instructions for the distributor mention a resistor between the ignition switch and the coil. Is this different?

Thanks,
Michael
