Hi,
My 2000 4.6 HSE costs me $1,700 a year to insure fully comp. I am 32, have one speeding ticket, great credit, a 2 car discount and homeowners insurance with the same outfit. I feel like I'm paying too much. What do you guys think?
Cheers,
Paul.

I think you're paying way too much. I'm at around $800 a year for a 2001 HSE.

Ive got a 90 RRC and Iam paying about $3500 a year for mine, Ive got full coverage. Iam 18 and dont have any tickets. I actually get a break on the rate because I am a student away at school. Paul, you are lucky I would love to be paying $1700 a year.

I went and talked with my agent. He had 'forgotten' to take off a couple of discounts. New cost to me is $1,212 per year with 100k+300k coverage limits. That's not too bad, but I still think I'm getting scammed- no dui's here!
Cheers,
Paul.

My wife and I are both 30, and have clean driving records. We've got full coverage (100k/300k/rental,etc) on a 2001 DII, 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan and 1993 Nissan 240sx convertible. It costs me 1600/yr with Progressive. Out of the 1600/yr, the Disco is 800 - ouch!!

Progressive renews every 6mos, and I always get quotes from other insurers around the renewal time, but progressive is always at least 400/yr cheaper.

1990 RRC $254/year for Liability. Why pay for full coverage for a truck of that age?

Oh, and of course it's paid off, the only money that goes into it is for gas, oil, and parts.

If you hit someone with your RR, you are likely to do enough damage that your grandchildren will need lawyers!
I pay more but get a lot of peace of mind.
Drive safe,
Paul.

Don't forget that where you live makes a huge difference. When I lived in NY and was on my Dad's policy, I was paying on my 91 RR what I'm paying in VA for two cars. Now I'm at around $1500/yr w/ $500 ded. on my 91 RR and 03 FL SE3. Oh yeah, I'm 27, one speeding ticket, no accidents.

Rover_guy hit it on the head!!!

It has a lot to do with where you live. Just by the quick glance I did to all the posts above, I am positive no one is from the NY/NJ area.

My wife and I are both 32, 2 points on my license (due to a minor fender bender), home owners policy with the same outfit (liberty mutual), full coverage, and just this year upped the deductible to $1000 and we're paying $3800 / year for the 99D1 and the 94D90. Last year with the $500 deductible, it's $4500 / year for both!!! Damn New Jersey!!! The 99D1 gets paid off this July and have been debating whether I should keep it on full coverage or not.

In California I pay $1600.00 a year for an 88RRC.
I don't look at cost, but look at what the service and return is for an accident. It is better to pay more and know that you will be taken care of without alot of bull. By the way my wife was hit head on in her MB and the other driver produced insurance paperwork from company XYZ and it took me several days to find that that was a sub of this, and a sub of that, so one - and the final company was named "Fast-One Insurance". They informed me that the driver was not insured(specifically) from that policy. My carrier picked up the entire tab and went after the other. Good luck and think for the worst.

ive been reading these posts and where you live has a lot to do with it. i live in the bay are a long the coast just south of san fran...the insurance is high, but like david said the company is no bull. I ripped up the whole left side of my disco1 a couple of years ago by falling into a deep four foot rut. not a pretty site. I had only been insured with this co. for two days. no questions asked they paid for the entire bill minus 500. deductible. the bill was around 6grand.

In southwest florida I pay about 1500.00 per year on a 2001 Disco with State Farm. full coverage, with 500 deductible's. I'm 32, only driver and have no tickets or points.

I lived in Philly area prior to here and paid about the same thing as here, but actually paid about $100 less per year up there.

Lived in Houston prior to that and paid about $600 less per year.

Depends on lots of things, but where you live has a lot to do with it.

David, that seems very high, even for CA. I pay $968 a year for the 93 RRC full coverage (through Amex), and that's with a 'special equipment' premium.

We pay a about $1K/yr for our '93 RRC through State Farm in Austin, TX. Full coverage with $1K deductible. One speeding ticket (first in years) didn't change it. Pay less on same policy for our '99 Trooper.

Not sure exactly, but that 2000 4.6 is probably worth at least 3-4 times our RRC, so you may not be too far off.

We pay roughly $380 a year for 93 RRC, though, it is registered as a "recreational vehicle", since we have 4 drivers and 5 cars.

That's Progressive.
Wanted to go to State Farm, but have too many tickets :-(

I pay $603 a year for my '96 Discovery. Three speeding tickets, 1 reckless driving, 1 license suspension when I was 17.

Three cars, 2 primary drivers. Yessir, you read it right. Apparently someone missed the meeting or something, 'cuz my deductible is $500 for collision/etc.

All on Geico. For real. I guess sometimes if it's too good to be true, you might just have gotten lucky.
