What is the purpose of converting from a 2 to a 3 pin ignition module?

I think the three pin connectors are just a ground wire in the middle. And the ground is a piece of alum foil that runs the length of the other two wires.

Recently I wired up a new remote ig amp on my truck. Had to splice a two pin connector onto a three pin cable. The newer amps have three pin connector, so you have to have at least one three pin.

Also note if you are wiring up ig system: You have to have a 12volt(white ig switch wire) connection to the + coil terminal. So no matter how you connect the amp to the coil, there must be a hot connection from the ig switch on attached to the coil.

someone was advertising that they are selling the old 2 pin style again, i think it was rovers north.

i was less than impressed with the "conversion kit' that my lucas 3 pin unit came with.

if you can find a brand new 2 pin, go for it.

By "conversion kit," do you mean the cut off and crimp new electrical pins and insert into the new style connector?

I always sell the adapter pigtail that one end plugs into the old harness and the other end plugs onto the new module without splicing any wires. This piece makes it much easier. See if anyone you buy from offers it.

Peace.

YES, thats exactly what I am talking about. there isn't a lot of room in there and the crimp connectors are so small it's easy to screw up.

Though, mine came off without a hitch I can see it being a potential issue.

It would be nice to have a prewired pigtail.
