It looks like I may have a bulb or two out on the window switch panel on my 4.0 . Are the mirror switches supposed to light up too? Are the bulbs changeable? Thanks, Ron |

The lighting is provided by surface mount LEDs. I can send you a pix if you like, I have a spare switch panel. Ron |

WAIT!!! I was wrong. Don't ask me why I thought it was surface mount LEDs - I must have been thinking of something else I've pulled apart. I must be getting old-timers disease. I just checked my spare switch panel again. It has a 10-spoked clear plastic moulding behind the panel. In the centre of the hub of the moulding is a hole which appears to it should accept a bulb holder. Hanging off the back of the PC board is a flylead with a 12v 1.2 watt standard wedge base bulb (sometimes called a capless bulb)with a green silicone sleeve over the bulb. I seems the clear plastic moulding carries the light to the switches. Quite cunning and not unlike the method used on the Classic speedo/tacho needles. The bulb is the typical wedge base/capless bulb used throughout the P38A and readily available at my local auto parts stores (here in Australia) for about A$1 each. But having said that, I can't quite see how the bulb holder fits the spoked hub. I'm looking at my spare unit, not the one in the car. Do you still want a pix? Ron |
