Ok, so I was driving down the street, the trans oil temp light came on. I read up on it, says to put in neutral and rev @ 2000 rpms till it goes away, did that, it just flickered. Turned it off and let it sit for a few hours. The light was on as soon as I turned the car back on, did the rev thing, still just flickers. Checked the levels and color of fluid, all is well. It's super raining outside, roomate thinks it could be a short. Any ideas?

sounds like a short, but just for shits n giggles, i'd take off the return hose from the cooler and start the truck- make sure its pushing through. make sure you have a BIG tub for the atf to go into, it pumps really fast.

good luck and dont let that thing get hot!

not likely a short. sensor probably just went bad.

if you want to find out for sure get a multimeter and pull the tran. temp sensor. it goes into a cooler line right by the bottom driver side corner of the radiator next to the steering pump. Just pull off the connection and then unscrew the sensor from the line. use your multimeter to check for any resistance between the two blades on the sensor. there should be none. if there is any resistance it has gone bad. if you want to do a comparison you can also check the sensor on your transfer case.

the sensors are made by some company named Elwood and if i ever meet one of their reprsentatives i'm going to punch them in the nose for all of us. i'm personally on my third sensor. i ordered a replacement once and when i was screwing it back in the threads sheared off in the cooler line! i had to drill it out.
