Boat tubing is what it is called on Jeeps. Its where you cut the sides/rocker area and angle the sheetmetal towards the frame for better clearance. What I want to do is cut the boxed area on the body, under the doors, where the body mounts are, the place that the factory steps bolt to, and move my sliders up three or so inches. It is really hard to explain with out pictures, but basically what it would do is eliminate 3-4 inches of metal from the door bottoms and the body structure, and allow me to move the sliders up that much higher. Anyone think that cutting the boxed area off would be a bad thing? I plan on reinforcing the floor and building new body mounts, but from what I can tell the boxed area doesn't provide structural support. |
