Hey all,

My name is Jim Ptak, I'm a partner in a Chicago-based performance shop called Nasty Performance. http://www.nastyperformance.com We typically serve the GM LS1 crowd (Camaros, T/A's, and C5 Vettes.)

Recently I was contacted by a potential customer with a '95 Defender, inquiring about possibly swapping in either a 5.7L LS1 or a 6.0L LQ4 (the truck-block equivalent of an LS1.) He "thinks it's been done before", but I've never heard of it. He's very picky about his truck, wants it perfect (understandably.) I'd like to find out what we're in for, so I can put together a preliminary quote.

Has anybody heard of this? Got any links to some info about it? I would GREATLY appreciate ANY shared info :)

Thanks!

Jim Ptak

Jim,

For informational purposes, check out www.eastcoastrover.com. They have done the 5.2 swap, and have lot's of info on their site.

Marks Adaptors makes an adaptor plate. The Chevy 350 is very close to the size of the Rover v-8. The Marks kit has the adaptor plate and engine mounts that appear to make it straightforward.

http://www.marks4wd.com/ Look under the Holden (Chevy in Australia) section.

The only problem was the rear mounted distributor on the SBC and clearance to the firewall. With the LS1 and distributorless ignition, should not be an issue assuming everything else (adaptor plate and engine mounts are the same as the SBC). The fact that the LS1 is aluminum should mitigate any weight worries.

Keep us posted.
