My heater core has gone south as of yesterday and I was wondering if I should pay the 1.3 labor hours($60/hour) to have it fixed or should I do it myself? I'll get the core myself from RN or elsewhere. Any suggestions?

1.3 hours labour? let them do it??

it's more like 13 hours labour. and i'm half inclined to still let them to it. it's a total cluster in there. i am praying mine makes it to a warm long long weekend wheen i can take my teime and fix everylittle thing that is behind there, becasue i dont want to do it twice. so far it just leaks a small small bit.

Rob,
On the 94 D90 the heater assembly is located on the fire wall(outside)so it doesn't look like it is hard to get to at all. I'm just not sure that I can handle the interior of the box.

DAYUM.. i thought i was in the range rover section

lol...

if it's east access i'd (personally) have at it. there is nothing to the actuall instal., just some pipe clamps. it's the shit that in the way that typically makes it a bear of a job.

still if labour is only 1.3hr it isn't insanly expensive to let them do it..

i have no idea what the d-90 is like in this aspect so i cant give you a worth while opinion

You can do it yourself, and you can find the core somewhere else for less than dealer prices.

Just weigh what your time is worth to ya, do you want to pay and have 'em do it, or do you want to save the money and learn a bit more about your truck?

If it's only an hour and a half labor, let them do it. The job is a complete b!tch if you have AC as you have to access the interior side of the firewall to free the mounting bolts. It's not a complicated job, it's just tedious. Make sure to use approved coolant when you refill and bleed from the burp tower (amazing how many people forget this). Also, make sure that it is actually the core first -- the control cables stretch over time and can cause issues.

Good luck.
