I am user of a Defender 90 and member of Land Rover Club Argentina www.landroverclub.com.ar I have made an overhaul inspection in my front and rear differentials, because they were noisy; following instructions from the WorkShop Manual. The problem is when I was going to adjust the drive pinion according to the manual instructions, the pinion end face was not free of raised burrs, it has three marks with burrs, it is bad ended, I mean scratched, it is not a perfect flat surface. Do you know why defe pinion are like mines, while disco pinion are well ended. (I saw them, and they are perfect!). So magnetized base cannot be set correctly in place onto the pinion end face. When reading the gauge, you obtain different lessures. I am writing to you because in Argentina the Land Rover official service could not help me because they dont know how to do it !. I would be grateful if you would mail me how can I solve this problem as soon as possible in order to have my differentials mounted and the vehicle ready for work.
