I posted this on the D-90 BBS. I've made contact with a reputable UK company (http://www.gi24.co.uk) that sells 12v heated windscreens for D90's, etc. Anyway the fellow there gave me a quote of 160 pounds including shipping (container) for a windscreen. But they will drop the price to 140 pounds for an order of 5 or more. Additionally, we are discussing building a "kit" that would include all of the wiring and instructions for installing the wiring kit. So if your interested (and I mean your ready to put some money down), please post back. We'll have word about the kit in a few days. The enxt shipment to the US goes in a little less than two weeks. Just to give you some perspective, RN charges $500 for the windscreen, without shipping. Regardless of whether they do produce a wiring kit, I think the savings alone on the screens is pretty darn good. I think with the collective minds here, we could figure out how to install a wiring kit ourselves. |

Would he have a price on a Discovery Series 1 Heated Windscreen? I don't drive my D-90 Everyday, but I'd love to have a heated windscreen in my Discovery, which is my daily driver. Thanx... |

David - I just bought my Willow Green special D90, ;) and it happens that it needs a new windshield. Are these OEM? If so, just wondering what the thing looks like. If the heater strips aren't too obstructive, I'm in. |

Wicks, they appear to be aftermarket, (correct me if I'm wrong Dave) which is the best option for glass for a D90. The OEM Land Rover windscreen is crap. I swear the thing comes pitted from the factory and it's extremely overpriced! I've replaced the windshields in both my D90's with aftermarket glass and been very pleased. Don't spend the money on an OEM windscreen. You can replace it with better glass for much less. At just over $200 these heated windscreens sound like a great option as well. Good luck. |

Yup, you have it Art. They are largely aftermarket, thus why they are quite a bit cheaper than the D110 heated windscreens RoversNorth sells. But I am almost certain (certain without actually being there myself) that they are manufactured by the same company in the UK. BTW, welcome to the D90 club Wicks. That looks like a VERY nice truck. |

Oh, and I missed the answer on the filament question. The filaments are indeed visible, but don't obstruct your view of course. They are similar to those in the heated windscreen of the DII. You get used to them right away. Or at least I did. |

Thanks guys. Sounds good. Any idea how long we'll have to wait? I bought it in Colorado (I wanted this exact model) last week and drove back here through the blizzarding Rockies. Good thing these were 50 state emissions equipped. ;) |

Oh, Art - it was in Boulder. Belonged to original owner named Leigh. Dunno if you are local, but since you were in Denver. |

Ahhhh, it was a Colorado Rover...that explains the need for a new windshield. Out here a cracked windshield is like a badge of ownership. That's the only reason I'm not jumping on the bandwagon to get a heated one. Sure would be nice (especially at that price) but in my 8th year of D90 ownership I'm on my 4th windshield I Don't recognize the name of your vehicles previous owner, but then there are quite a few D90's here. Oh and be sure to get a bio up on the D90 source also: www.d-90.com Regards, Art

Wicks, not sure yet on the shipping dates, as I'm still working with the UK guys to put the wiring and "kit" together. But I'll keep you updated. Art, you need to get some windshield insurance...from what I hear, most insurers will cover the heated screen once you have one. |

Still working on it Wicks. Believe me, I'll update soon. I'm doing my best as a 3rd party to make sure this is a quality kit, not something we all are disappointed over... Soon. |

This is my cross post from D-90. Well, I received my windscreen and "test" wiring kit from the friendly freight man yesterday. The windscreen itself was very well packaged and in great shape. So now onto the next phase of this little project. The guys in the UK included a wiring kit they use on other cars, but have never used on a rover before. The kit consists of a relay and fuse, and the ancillary wires to the battery, switch, ground, and windscreen. All very similar to the Hella wiring harnesses. The windscreen itself is grounded seperately. Now, I'm no wiring expert, beyond being able to wire up my stereo, lights and CB. So I'm looking for any help or suggestions. Given the relay and fused setup, I was thinking of simply taking the wire for the switch and splicing it into the Heated rear windscreen switch already in my SW. This way, the switch is only activating the relay, and is does not have to do much, as it was not intended. Additionally, I'll know that both screens are on, due to the dash light. The other option, is to get a D110 wiring harness from RN. While it would be nice to have it seperately switched and look stock, I think it would require much more legwork on my part to piece the required switch and relay together. Probably would run $100 or more in additional parts. Anyone out there have experience with this? Thoughts, or recommendations? Next, does anyone have experience on uninstalling and installing a windscreen themselves? I think in a truck like the 90, it should be easy. But I'd like some opinions.
