I first heard other D90 owners complain about this problem several years ago, but never once had it happen to my '95 D90. Now I own a '97 and it happens almost every time I visit the car wash (the high-pressure do-it-yourself-in-the-horsestall-type). The last time was the worst. It started up after the wash (usually it has to sit for a while with the hood open) and I drove it home (a few blocks) where it sat parked for about a 1/2 hour. I then started it again and drove about a mile before it #$%! stalled while I was moving, which it has never done before. I steered it to the curb and had to let it sit about 15 minutes before it started again. Drove a couple more miles and it happened again. It happened once more, then it ran fine for the hour long drive after that, with no problems since. Someone has to have an answer, this only happens when I use the high pressure wash. Any Disco or RR owners ever have this problem or is this limited to some D90's? Frustrated, Art - Denver, CO

Art, I had this problem repeatedly with my DII, with high pressure washes, and in severe rain storms.

Haven't had it in the '97 D90 yet though. But I also keep the car running when I wash it. Largely because I don't want the same to happen.

I got a lot of good advice from posting this on the D90 list - I'll try some of the suggestions and report what happens. What annoys me the most is that I never had this problem with my '95 D90 - ever. Now, it's like every time I wash the '97 I end up having to push it out of the stall so the next car in line can take its turn.

Oh David, by-the-way, according to the UPS tracking website, you should get your drop curtain today. We've had snow in Denver the past few days (cold) so I've been pretty happy to have mine.
Regards,
Art

Yes the '97 is distributor-less.

Cool, thanks for letting me know Art. I can't wait to use it. I had a cold drive last weekend, and it was all I could think of.

I'm not sure exactly how the D90 is set-up, but on the D1 Discos, the distributor-less 1996s & up have a weak spot due to the ECU. The ECU is located at the back of the engine bay, passenger side, and it is prone to water ingress from high-power spray (e.g. powerwashing) that slips in the gap between the hood & passenger side front fender. You get your ECU wet, it shorts out, and you're stalled. Ask me how I know. :-) You can perform several home-grown mods to help keep water out of the ECU (add more weatherstrip in the gap, silicone the ECU opening, tupperware, avoid powerwashers, etc.)
