I need some help with this problem, i can't think of what this might be. I have a 95 d-90 and it's having a problem with the gears grinding between shifts but only at high revs. For instance, if i shift btw. 3500 and 4000 rpm the gears grind when i push the clutch in. I did the same thing 1000 revs less, no grinding. I also get the grinding if I double clutch in the higher rev ranges. The clutch doesn't seem like it's going or anything, all the gears engage crisp, there is no other problems that i can see. ANy ideas what this might be?

it's a Fu***** Land Rover not a sports car. its not made to rev and be shifted hard. Take it easy on the poor girl and she will take care of you.

Damn phillip how the hell is the guy supposed to drive. I agree 4000 is excessive unless on hills or towing but he will be in the 3000 range on shifts go easy. Try syncros first

MOst commonly i'm shifting btw. 2000- and 3000 but this grinding is starting to work it's way down the rev range. Right now it's not a big deal because it rarely gets that high, but i'm worried for the future. Could a lack of transmission fluid cause this?

maybe, when was the last time that it was checked/changed. I know lucas makes some tranmission fluids that stick to the surface better than regular fluids. I think there was a discussion about this in the Disco Technical discussions. Check over at www.D-90.com there should be some info there also.
