I recently purchased a '95 D90 and the salesman told me that he didn't have the engine cleaned becasue doing so can be an absolute nightmare on D90s. Was he serious or just lazy? I would like to get the engine cleaned when I get the D90 waxed this weekend.

Thanks.

If you clean the engine you most likely will get the stupid "Check engine" light. Some Lucas part will short out and it goes down hill from there. That was my experience but others may have had better luck. Good Luck.....Dave

Don't even go through the hassle. The last thing you need with your new 90 is a lucas problem. Besides, its' just going to get dirty anyway right?

Steam it. Make sure you cover the alternator, fuse box. Be sparing and take the cleaning slow and methodical. It's should NOT be a problem.

Lucas be damned.

Oh yeah, keep the engine running. And drive it around afterwards.

I just did mine with GUNK engine cleaner. There are two kinds; I used the lighter one. Follow instructions. I covered the ECU only. No problems.
