My Defender and I are about to head off to school this weekend and I am a little concerned with security. I don't keep anything in it except the cd player, which is locked away, but the 90 will be left all day in a parking lot beside my dorm. Does anyone have some kind of security system on their rover? Any suggestions on what to look for or know some good manufacturers? TIA,mike

This one so far seems to be the best:
http://www.d-90.com/mod/zowie.html

The one that was in our D90 would go off all the time just sitting there but never went off the one time someone was breaking into it.

Mike,
I to worried about the security of my D-90 while at school...I am the kind of guy who will drive around for 30 mins looking for an end parking spot so i don't get my doors dinged. Like you i don't keep anything in my truck unless it can be locked up. I have not found any security that seems to work, but i do like Chris's idea for the Rottweiler. That would prove to be a good security investment. Other than that i haven't found anything yet that seems to work.

Hahaha...Phillip you could just forget the sticker and pack the Smith and Wesson, after a few shots are fired i am sure people will leave our D-90's alone. All it comes down to is jealousy. People who aren't as lucky to own a D-90 want to mess peoples up....

That D-90 is like my baby. Phillip, I wasn't sure but you know I'm Jason from western don't you....just checking....We think exactly alike when it comes to our D-90's...later guys.

Install a marine cutoff switch to your battery. At least they won't be able to steal the thing...

Sounds like a good idea, but I am not worried about them stealing it. I worry about them fucking with it period. I guess i need to get on an invention that is like a forcefield that will like shock you or something when you get near my D-90. I may just have to start packing the smith and wesson....lol.....So i take it that none of yuo know of any good security systems around??

Yeah I guess if they are gonna mess with it then at least they can't take it. How exactly does that marine cutoff switch work.

haha. yeah if they can figure out the ignition. its funny to watch people try to start my D-90, since the ignition is pretty much backwards of any other car I have driven. I think if you left the t-case in neutral most people would have a hard time figuring everything out.

Well, their are a few ways you can do it. I have a marine dual battery switch mounted underneath the drivers seat. It allows me to switch between both batteries and/or switch off all power to the starter and the rest of the truck. It's difficult to see the switch where it is mounted unless your really looking. For someone to break in and then figure out how to turn the switch, would take them more time than they would want.

I never installed it as a theft deterrant. But the more I use it, it seems a great idea for a mod that works in many different ways.
