Fan just stops on our 95

After taking the kids trick-or-treating in -10c last night I noticed that the fan just stops intermittantly, and goes on again when I touch the fan control. I was thinking that perhaps it's on a thermostat, but I dont think so. Is this one of these "electrical gremlins" that I was warned about?
