Hi there,

there is a Defender with 280/85-16. The transmission ratio needs to be lowered.
And I think that a 4.11 Diff-ration would do that nicely.

But what do you think about the strength of these gears. Commonly a diff with a low-ratio is weaker due to smaller teeth or so (thatīs why the Rover 4.7 are no option).
The british company KAM say (on their homepage) that the 4.1 diff is 25% stronger than the OEM gears.
How can they know ?
Anybody had these gears and couldnīt recommend them ?

Alternative solution could be to use the t-box of a 2.5lDiesel Defender with 1.667:1 high-range ratio. This would leave the low-range relatively high - ok, then we use the Maxi-drive (straight-cut) gears that have a about 30% lower ratio than the OEMīs 3.32:1 . No concern about strength then, but at what expense views hopefully awaited.
REgards,
Hendrik
