Anyone know what places like ECR charge for TDI conversions? Just curious what it might cost. |

Actually, I got a quote from them last week. For a '97, they wanted 26K. They said it was because everything had to be replaced, not just engine, of course. That's 26,000 samoalians.. I almost wanted to tell them they were crazy. But I would be wrong, because it's obvious people pay that. |

Eddie Bostock at Land Rover Unlimited in Orange County will do it for a fraction of ECR's price. Eddie's the premiere LR off-road/customization mechanic in Southern Cal. 949 768 3777. |

What's a "fraction of the cost"? |

Dave, ECR's cost is expensive but it's also a very nice conversion. However I know of several places where you can get it done for cheaper. Contact me offline and I can point you to a couple of different sources in addition to LRUnlimited. Thanks, Nathan Hindman http://www.PangaeaExpeditions.com |

I never got a quote from Eddie, but he did say he could do one for much less. Call him and ask if you are serious about this. Most members of SCLR know him and can give references. |

ECR is so proud of the light cluster they put in that has the glow plug coil symbol. That's just something the driver readily sees and immediately think they got a factory quality install. Those guys are salesmen, they make the smallest, easiest thing sound like they've just invented the wheel. They just use a nice website to advertise what almost any competent mechanic could do. |
